According to a new study conducted in April 2022, 15% of UK adults have made an online purchase while drunk and not remembered until the parcel arrives. One in every five even go so far as to contact the seller after forgetting they bought it themselves.

The study showed that 37% of UK adults frequently get a package they can't recall ordering until they open it. Also, 15% said they have gotten at least one parcel in the last year which they don't remember ordering because they were drunk when they ordered it.

Clothes, home accessories and gifts for other people are the top online shopping purchases to make when drunk, with each drunken splurge costing around £45 on average.

The most popular type of orders to make after drinking alcohol were clothing (25%), home accessories (17%), gifts (14%), beauty products (11%) and pet accessories (10%).

So, the next time you're feeling a little boozy and get the urge to shop online, maybe think twice before hitting that checkout button. Drunk shopping can be costly, both in terms of money and in regret the next day!
